Third Time's A Charm

So what can we expect from the third installment of the Ocean series?
Admittedly, not very much. But the truth is, I never expect much from these movies, except being entertained by them. And this one certainly hit the marks with this reviewer.

In this third sequel, Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and the gang was on a revenge mission. Hotel and casino mogul Willy Bank (Al Pacino) has tricked his business partner, Ruben Tishkoff (Elliot Gould) to give up his share for the newly planned five diamond hotel/casino in Vegas. For Ruben friends, namely Danny and the gang, this is simply unacceptable. With this being an Ocean movie, the revenge plan consist of several elaborated schemes, all with one purpose: bankrupting the casino on its opening night by making the casino lose. Big time.

Some of the schemes was perhaps too fantastical in nature, but it was not too distracting from the whole movie. The execution of the revenge plan was throughly entertaining, an element that's missing from the second movie.

Another factor that I think made this movie more enjoyable than the second one, is that Ocean's 12 felt they needed to do something different, while in fact, what came out was it was being too clever for its own good. While in Ocean's 13, they didn't take themselves too seriously and the writers went back to basic to what makes the first movie good. In addition, the cast looked like they enjoyed themselves more in their roles, which in turns make the movie enjoyable for the audience.

While I can say that I enjoy this movie, personally I think Ocean series has run its course. A fourth installment would be overkill, any other angle for this good-hearted conmen can still be entertaining is pretty much doubtful.
